Six PPC strategies for your business :
Whether you implement these yourself or get us to do it for you, these are tips which will release the full potential of PPC for your business:
If you're not sure how PPC works you will need to check the Google Adwords Site first then come back here before doing anything else. You won't find the following information on the Google site!
1) Bid on the maximum number of keywords. This might mean 50 or might mean hundreds, it depends on your business and product or service. They keywords you bid on can have dramatic cost implications. For example; we produce video for web pages. Here are three key phrases we might bid for;
'Videos for web'
'Video for web'
'Videos for websites'
You might think there would be little difference in cost between these examples, but to get a top 3 position for each would cost (per click):
Videos for web - $2.47
Video for web - $1.74
Videos for websites - $0.05
Bidding on a large number of key words can mean you spend significantly less. In the example above we would probably get a better quality prospect from 'videos for websites' than 'video for web' and it would cost 50 times less! That opportunity would have been lost if we only bid on one or two key phrases.
2) Write a separate ad for each keyword. This relates to point one above. If we have an ad for each keyword we will not only make it more relevant, but we'll pay less for it. This strategy can save you thousands and improve click through rates by hundreds of per cent.
3) Find the best keywords. There are tools to help you populate your keyword list but you should also refine it yourself. Start with words and phrases which are obvious then go here to add and refine your list.
4) Use keywords in your heading. Do this and the person searching will recognise their words in your ad and will be more likely to click through
5) Write your ad. In Google you don't have much space, so put yourself in the position of the person searching and write a few words which will catch their interest. We can help with this if you get stuck.
6) Testing. Create an ad and run it for a few days on a low budget. Check its click through rate. Now write another ad for the same keywords and check that ads performance. If it gets a higher click through then drop the first ad. The trick is to continuously test your ads by trying to beat the current ad. This had a double benefit - your ad is more successful and Google will rank your ad higher in the list.
